As a Dubliner ~First of March~

1/Mar

Storm has come.
Dublin bus all stopped and so Hiro was stuck in musty hostel all the day. I heard that my friends Kai and Momochi could not get back to Japan because all the flights were cancelled. That's too bad...
According to the weather report, all western Europe seems stormy and it is like catastrophe.

I had nothing to do but eating Curry that I made to eat with Hiro.

2/Mar

It's still snowy. I went to nearest park with my flatmates. They said it was first time for them to see a snow. Brazil doesn't have it.

I made a snowman in the park and an igloo in front of my house. I stored my Sake in the igloo. It must taste good.

3/Mar

I found Alex used snow as an ice cube for his drink. It is so dirty...
Kai said he stayed at luxurious hotel in the airport  because he didn't have a flight. I am jealous on you.

Hiro and I planned to go to cliff of Moher this weekend but we cancelled it. In the first place there are no buses...
Hiro said he went to Galway but there were no connecting buses and he gave up.
That's too bad...

My Sake was so cold that it tastes really good.
My flatmates gave me risotto for lunch.

At night, I gave them Curry I made. They said they liked it and especially Luis seemed he was crazy at Curry.

They gave me brazilian traditional desserts(I forget the name, though)

My portuguese has improved and now we can talk in portuguese and I can use even some jokes. They enjoyed it and we took photos together.
It is one of the best thing to study other languages.

BTW, Hiro is still stuck in hostel. He said he has no foods. That's too bad..

4/Mar

Hiro finally could got to my flat and he looked so tired. He stayed at cheap hostel alone in city centre against his will.

I feel sorry for him and so I made him cotage pie.
We drunk beer and talked a lot. Alex woke up and he also joined our conversation.
He get along with Hiro rather than me lol

We got stoned and went to the pub close to my flat. As ordinal, a gig was held and we enjoyed it drinking beer. Suddenly, an old man sitting next to us invited me to play.
I declined once because it was not my gig.
However, he keep inviting me again and again . I finally decided to sing a song.
Singer passed me a guitar and I started to sing "Wild Rover"
It was like a dream that everyone sang along with me in the choras.

I was ordered to sing one more song and I sang one of Sean nos singing.
Fortunately, with big applause, we(Hiro, as a manager, and I) were accepted and got whisky.
Hiro doesn't like whisky, though.

It was fantastic night.

5/Mar

Hiro left Ireland. Have a good travel.

Today I had Gamelan music workshop.
Gamelan is a traditional music from Indonesia played in rituals. It was first time for me to play it.

To play Gamelan, we use a lot of instruments with different rhythms and it can make its mysterious and miraculous sound.
It was wired that I learned Gamelan in Ireland but it was good experience. It seemed that all I could do is just knocking on some gongs, though.

In the noon, my friends from Tradsoc had live music in the university and I went to see them.
It was so fantastic and I wished I could have played with them.

BTW, I started conversation exchange with the friend of Luis, my brazilian flatmate. It can be good opportunity for me to study portuguese. My partner, Rodorigo was intermediate English speaker and he also loves Japanese anime. I hope this conversation can help each other.

6/Mar

I went to session in the Cobblestone and today finally I could follow the conversation.
Conversation is essential to the sessions and I have felt a sense of loneliness that I could not follow it. However, I noticed that the conversation between elderly people is relatively
slow and easy. I study not only music but also English in the pub.

7/Mar

Today we had meeting in the flat to discuss how to use our flat. We made cleaning lotation and made some rules.
I am terrible at house works and I have bothered them. However, they always forgive me and say it's normal.
I decided to keep our house cleaner than before.

8/Mar

Today we had ceili.
Ceili means social gathering in Irish and usually dancing event. Ceili for international students were held in our university.
I joined with Ihono and I played banjo as a member of Ceili band.
It was awesome and fortunately I got salaries for playing from university!
The food was good, too and I made friend with chinese woman.

BTW, in the city center, I finally found the best session in Dublin. It is top secret.

9/Mar

Today we had a field trip and went to ITMA's building. ITMA is an archive to preserve
Irish traditional music and the leader is Nichoras Caroline, usually in the Cobblestone on Monday.
It is interesting that our friend in the session can be a great person.

ITMA had many analog and digital recordings of irish music enormously.
Lonan, our professor, said they now try to change analog descriptions to digital.
You can enjoy some of their works on the website and I recommend it.

10/Mar

I went to session at peader brown's. There is an old man who always treat all of us.

I was wasted and, in the bus to home, made friend with Irish guy. We hit it off and had a pint
in the pub.
This was first experience for me. He lives the next town to my town.
